"For this exhibition I have chosen the airfield as an icon. Flying over the centre of Australia gave me the key to the work that I have done for the last seven years. The symbol of the airfield provides a reference. It shows our point of departure gouged into the land over which we pass. We are not impartial observers who can travel through a place without changing it. As we travel over the land we become part of it. The land has allowed us our journey and we should acknowledge it."
