David Hume - Postcards From the Rock

Home

"Uluru (Ayer's Rock) is one of the best known and most photographed natural objects in the world. I wanted to express my own ideas about it.

Below is shown one of the pieces from the exhibition. This representation cannot convey the size of the work, 1.8m x 3.6m, nor can it convey the quality of the light reflected from the surface. The work is painted in acrylic paint on flat galvanised steel. This is not unlike my watercolours of "Visions of Venice", because both involve the transmission of light through a translucent medium and its reflection from the support."
